Russian forces have intensified pressure on Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region, as they have failed to take control of Pokrovsk. However, Ukrainian soldiers have reinforced the defenses, according to the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces on Telegram.

"Due to the inability to establish control over Pokrovsk, the enemy is increasing pressure on Myrnohrad. For the occupiers, capturing this settlement is important for further advance in the direction," the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces said.

The military added that Russian forces have concentrated about 10 units in the Myrnohrad area (the number of soldiers was not specified). To contain the enemy, Myrnohrad’s defenses have been reinforced with additional forces and equipment.

In particular, logistical "corridors" to the western part of Myrnohrad have been strengthened with new units. As a result, supplies along this direction have not been disrupted.

Units of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade and the 79th Air Assault Brigade are working to detect and eliminate the enemy in the Myrnohrad area. Their focus is on sections where Russian forces are attempting to penetrate the city.

Since early December, marines and air assault troops in the Myrnohrad area have eliminated and "disabled":

  • 207 troops;

  • One tank;

  • Three armored combat vehicles;

  • One artillery piece;

  • One Grad multiple launch rocket system;

  • Six vehicles;

  • 34 drones of various types.

Rumors about Myrnohrad

Yesterday, December 23, MP and Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada’s Defense Committee Roman Kostenko claimed that Ukrainian troops in Myrnohrad were in "operational encirclement."

He asserted that there was no possibility of entering the city or delivering supplies there.

Meanwhile, several weeks ago, it became known that Ukrainian troops had withdrawn from positions in the areas of the settlements of Lisivka and Sukhyi Yar, which are located near Myrnohrad.
