As of the evening of August 11, Russia continues to lose territory in the Kursk region. The area of combat operations has increased, according to the Russian Agenstvo news agency.

In particular, reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian military blogs, and NASA satellite imagery indicate that the fighting in the Suzhansky district was conducted in approximately the same area as on Saturday. At the same time, the Russian authorities acknowledged that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had raided the neighboring Belovsk district.

The total area where the fighting took place on Sunday was up to 720 square kilometers. This is 70 square kilometers more than the previous day.

The farthest point from the border where the fighting took place was the village of General Well in Korenevo district (28 km from the border and all 9 km from the Lgov-Rylsk road). The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that "enemy mobile groups on armored vehicles that were trying to break through into Russia were stopped there".

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military fired on an air assault brigade near the district center of Korenevo. NASA satellites recorded fires there.

The westernmost point where the fighting took place was near the village of Tolpino. According to a press release from the Russian Defense Ministry, there were battles with "enemy mobile groups on armored vehicles" in this area, as well as in the village of Zhuravly.

At the eastern point of the fighting, in the village of Martynovka, fighting continued on Sunday. According to Rybar, in the morning, the Ukrainian military conducted a series of attacks on Russian army positions. However, earlier it was reported that on Saturday, Russian troops recaptured the village.

To the south, fighting took place in the Belovsky district, where Ukrainian forces raided deep into Russian territory. The Ukrainian Armed Forces crossed the border near the village of Kucherov. This is evidenced by the analysis of ISW and Radio Liberty, as well as NASA satellite images that showed fires in the area. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 2 tanks, an armored vehicle, and vehicles with ammunition near the village of Ozerki and the village of Ivanovsky.

Kursk breakthrough

This week, on Tuesday, August 6, the Russians claimed to have broken through the border from Ukraine in the Kursk region. Russian propagandists complain about the advance of allegedly Ukrainian troops deep into Russia. As of today, August 11, fighting in the border areas of the Russian region has been going on for six days in a row.

Against this backdrop, a few days earlier, a counterterrorist operation regime was introduced in three regions of Russia. These are Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions.

Also on Sunday, August 11, Russian authorities recognized a nighttime breakthrough in another district of the Kursk region. According to a statement by the acting governor of the region, Alexei Smirnov, on August 10, Ukrainian subversive reconnaissance groups entered the territory of the Belovsky district. At the same time, he claims that at the time of publication of the post, there was no fighting in the Belovsky and Oboyansky districts of the Kursk region.
