Russian forces have been relentlessly striking Ukraine's energy facilities since last night. This is one of the largest attacks of its kind, National Power Company Ukrenergo reports.
"One of the enemy's largest attacks on the country's energy infrastructure has been ongoing since overnight. Today's assaults have further complicated the situation in the power system," the company said.
Just yesterday, November 2, Russian forces deliberately attacked Ukraine's energy facilities more than 20 times. Russia used an unprecedented amount of weaponry for these strikes. The energy infrastructure sustained significant damage.
Emergency power outages are in effect in several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, as a result of the attacks. Thousands of energy workers are already working to restore electricity supplies. Critical infrastructure facilities will be prioritized for reconnection.
"All services are working in constant coordination to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible," Ukrenergo assured.
Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy
Notably, massive attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities resumed in late September. Since then, Russian forces have continued their systematic strikes.
Overnight on November 3, Russia launched another massive assault on Ukraine. So far, the attack is known to have damaged substations in nine regions.
In addition, three thermal power plants of DTEK energy company suspended electricity generation after Russian strikes.
