Russian propagandists claim that the family of Vladimir Medinsky, the Russian President's aide, is allegedly receiving threats. These claims are yet another information campaign by the enemy, Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation reports.

According to the Ukrainian side, Russian information resources are amplifying the words of Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov about alleged threats to Medinsky's family. At the same time, these claims have no evidence of their existence or any indication of their origin. Nevertheless, the Russian Investigative Committee has already started a criminal proceeding.

"This information campaign, launched by Russia ahead of a possible second round of talks, is part of the enemy's strategy to stall and derail ceasefire negotiations. It serves as a pretext to push propaganda narratives about Ukraine being 'incapable of making agreements' and the 'terrorist nature of the Kyiv regime,'" Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation added.

Russia-Ukraine negotiations

On May 16, the first in-person meeting in several years between representatives of Ukraine and Russia took place in Türkiye, during which ways to resolve the war were discussed. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye intending to hold talks with Vladimir Putin, but the latter refused to engage in dialogue.

The Ukrainian delegation was led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, while Medinsky headed the Russian side.

During the negotiations, the parties raised the issue of a large-scale prisoner exchange in the 1000-for-1000 format. The exchange was carried out in three stages over the past weekend.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that Moscow plans to announce a new round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian sides in the near future.
