According to the security service, Zelenskyy noted that this agreement was reached during a meeting in Türkiye. He stressed the importance of fully implementing the deal.

"Life of every Ukrainian is the highest value! We are working to fulfill the order of the President of Ukraine and to return every Ukrainian from captivity!" the service added.

Large-scale prisoner swap

As a reminder, during negotiations in Türkiye on May 16, the Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed on a large-scale prisoner swap. The deal was in the 1,000-for-1,000 format.

Due to the scale of the swap, it has been carried out in several stages, starting Friday, May 23.

In the first stage, 390 people were released from Russian captivity. This included 270 military personnel and 120 civilians. Among them were sailors from the Navy, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

On the second day of the large swap, Ukraine received back 307 military personnel. Among them were 27 defenders of Mariupol. Soldiers from other military units were also freed from captivity for the first time.

Today, among those released from Russian captivity were 70 soldiers who defended Mariupol.
