Russia claims naval drones attacking Novorossiysk
Authorities in Novorossiysk have reported an attack by unmanned boats. The city’s port is home to several Russian military ships, according to Russian media.
According to the mayor of Novorossiysk, the attack is reportedly being repelled.
He has advised residents along the coastline to avoid windows and refrain from being outdoors near the sea.
As a reminder, Novorossiysk, which hosts some Russian military vessels, has repeatedly been targeted by drones.
On May 17, the Security Service of Ukraine and Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine launched a drone attack on Russian positions in Sevastopol, Tuapse, and Novorossiysk. Targets included the seaport, an oil refinery, an oil terminal, and electrical substations.
Additionally, the partisan movement ATESH has revealed that Russian troops are reinforcing their naval base in Novorossiysk following Ukrainian strikes. They are reportedly doing so in anticipation of further attacks from Ukrainian maritime drones.
In September of last year, Russia relocated 14 ships to Novorossiysk after a strike on the Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol.
