Russian authorities claim their troops have fully captured the Luhansk region. This claim turned out to be false, according to the Third Assault Brigade.

Russian false claim

Russia’s Defense Ministry said units of the West grouping had supposedly completed the capture of the Luhansk region.

Response from the Third Assault Brigade

In response, the brigade stressed that its units are still operating in the Luhansk region. It added that over the past six months, Russian forces carried out 144 assault attempts in the areas of the villages of Nadiia and Novoiehorivka, located near the administrative border with the Kharkiv region. For these attacks, the enemy deployed, among other things, 19 units of motorized equipment and more than 360 troops. The assaults resulted in heavy losses for Russian forces:

  • up to 260 troops killed;
  • more than 80 wounded.

"In the mentioned settlements, as well as in Hrekivka, the brigade’s forces continue to hold the line despite all Russian attempts to seize the region both militarily and virtually through lies and fake claims," the Third Assault Brigade said.

Russian forces regularly spread false claims about the situation on the battlefield.

In particular, in February, Russia reported capturing the settlement of Ternuvate in the Zaporizhzhia region, which at the time was located about 15 kilometers from the line of contact.
