Russia is experiencing another collapse in its airports due to airspace restrictions. Hundreds of flights have been canceled for the second day in a row, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg, according to Russia's Federal Agency for Air Transport and Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

Currently, flights are temporarily suspended at the following airports: Ivanovo Yuzhny (South), Kaluga (Grabtsevo), Saint Petersburg (Pulkovo), and Tambov (Donskoye). Pskov was also on the list, but recently lifted its restrictions.

According to Rosaviatsiya (the Federal Agency for Air Transport) data as of the evening of July 6, the number of canceled flights includes:

  • 171 flights at Moscow's Pulkovo Airport;
  • 90 flights at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport;
  • 26 flights in Nizhny Novgorod.

In total, about 287 flights were canceled, excluding airports where operations were completely halted.

Rosaviatsiya states the situation remains under control. However, large airports continue to see passenger queues similar to the previous day.

Also, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported this evening that Russian air defenses allegedly shot down six drones heading toward the capital. Emergency services are working at the crash sites, he said.

Additionally, several monitoring Telegram channels claimed that around 14 Russian regions were attacked by unknown drones today. The accuracy of this information is unclear.

Flight cancellations in Russia

Yesterday, Russian airports also experienced flight cancellations. Nearly 100 flights were canceled in Moscow and St. Petersburg alone, with hundreds more delayed. The cause was reportedly the threat of drone attacks.
