Russia boosts combat readiness of Russian Guard with additional PMC involvement: British intelligence
The Russian Guard (Rosgvardia) is enhancing its resources and personnel, engaging private military companies, and more, according to the information from the British intelligence.
According to intelligence reports, the Russian Guard has begun strengthening its resources and personnel due to internal security challenges in Russia stemming from the war against Ukraine. Specifically:
- On October 3, 2023, units of the Wagner PMC were incorporated into the Russian Guard.
- On January 3, 2024, the "Vostok" battalion of the so-called DNR joined the Russian Guard.
- Currently, Russia is working to disband the "Kaskad" group specializing in drone operations, with plans to integrate it into the Russian Guard.
"In July 2023, the Russian State Duma authorised Rosgvardiya to employ heavier weaponry. New capabilities, along with its augmentation with experienced veterans from other groups, will likely represent a significant increase in combat effectiveness," intelligence reports.
The National Guard of Russia
The Russian Guard (Rosgvardia) is a military formation directly subordinated to the dictator Vladimir Putin.
This terrorist-supporting country has employed Rosgvardia even during the full-scale war against Ukraine. Typically, terrorists are deployed to temporarily occupied territories for patrolling and maintaining the occupation order.
