Russia attempts to advance towards Kurakhove and Pokrovsk, situation tough - Ukraine's Army chief
The situation on the eastern front is currently difficult. The Russian invaders are trying to reach the large settlements of Kurakhove and Pokrovsk, according to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"Due to the difficult situation in the east, I worked for two days in units that are engaged in defensive actions on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, that is, in the direction of Russia's main attack. Here Russian attack forces are most concentrated, trying to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops and, building on their success, reach the large settlements of Kurakhove and Pokrovsk," he says.
According to him, the Russians initially had a numerical advantage in personnel, weapons, and military equipment, so they attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops every day.
"Our task in these conditions is to hold the occupied lines and positions, to inflict maximum losses on the enemy, to exhaust him, thereby disrupting the enemy's plans and gaining time to form and prepare our reserves," says Syrskyi.
He notes that he worked with unit commanders.
"While working with the brigade commanders and their subordinates, I made all the necessary decisions to strengthen the defense with reserves and allocate additional missiles, ammunition, electronic warfare, and UAVs. I am confident that this will help Ukrainian units successfully repel Russian attacks and inflict significant losses on the Russian troops," adds Syrskyi.
