Today, August 26, Russian forces attacked the Shostka community in the Sumy region. Civil infrastructure was damaged, and communication systems were disrupted, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov reports.

“In the morning, the enemy again attacked the civil infrastructure of the Shostka community. Three men, aged 35, 44, and 48, were injured. All have been hospitalized, and medical personnel are providing necessary care,” Hryhorov said.

According to the Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, part of the Shostka area was left without electricity due to the strikes. Critical infrastructure is operating on backup power, and there are disruptions to communications. Resilience points have also been deployed, and restoration work is ongoing.

Russian strikes on Ukraine on August 26

Overnight on August 26, Russian forces attacked several regions of Ukraine with drones, mainly in the north and east. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy launched 59 Shahed strike drones and various types of decoy UAVs. Most enemy targets were shot down by air defense forces.

On the night of August 26, a series of explosions sounded in Sumy. The Ukrainian military had earlier warned about drone activity in the region.

In addition, in the morning, Russian strike drones targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack caused a fire, damaged a private house, and destroyed a vehicle.
