Lviv hit by record Russian strike: 78 drones and 12 missiles launched overnight

During the night of Sunday, October 5, Lviv and the region were attacked by 90 strike drones and missiles launched by the Russian Federation, according to Ihor Tuz, Director of the Civil Protection Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, and Maksym Kozytskyy, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

According to him, a total of 90 Russian drones and missiles attacked Lviv and the Lviv region this morning.
"The Lviv region was hit by 78 drones and 12 missiles… A number of critical infrastructure facilities were damaged, as well as many apartment buildings and other residential structures where civilians live," Tuz said.
At the moment, it is known that the city of Lviv, as well as the Lviv and Stryi districts, suffered the most damage. Strikes from Russian shelling were also recorded in the Drohobych and Shepetivka districts.
In Lapaiivka, about ten private houses were damaged. Five people were killed, and three others are currently hospitalized and receiving medical assistance.
"In the case of Lapaiivka, there are about ten private houses, and there is already information about five people killed and three hospitalized who are receiving the necessary assistance," he said.
What the regional administration says
At the same time, Maksym Kozytskyy said that last night the enemy carried out the largest attack on the Lviv region since the start of the full-scale invasion.
"About 163 aerial targets entered the area of responsibility of the Air Command West — an estimated 140 Shahed drones and 23 cruise missiles. I thank our air defenders for shooting down a significant number of enemy targets," he wrote.
According to him, the missiles and Shaheds targeted mostly the same sites — residential buildings, hospitals, and civilian industrial facilities. However, this time, gas transmission infrastructure was also hit.
Massive attack on October 5
During the night of Saturday, October 5, the Russian Federation launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine. The occupiers used drones, cruise missiles, and Kinzhal missiles.
The Lviv region suffered the most — drones first struck the area, followed by missiles launched from the Black Sea.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Russian forces fired more than 50 missiles and about 500 strike drones, including cruise missiles, Shaheds, and Kinzhals.
