Russia attacks Kyiv region with over 150 drones, entire family injured

Russian occupiers attacked the Kyiv region with over 150 drones during the night of May 18, marking one of the most massive strikes in the area, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
A whole family was injured in the Obukhiv district as a result of the attack. A 27-year-old woman was killed. Her 4-year-old son suffered shrapnel wounds to his face and was taken to the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv.
The 59-year-old husband (grandfather) underwent surgery and is in satisfactory condition. He is currently in the trauma department of the local hospital. The 61-year-old grandmother sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and remains under medical supervision in the local hospital.
Damage from the Russian attack
According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, in the Obukhivskyi district, a residential building was destroyed and windows were shattered in seven apartment buildings. Buildings of a municipal enterprise, educational institutions, Ukrposhta, a tire repair shop, three private houses, and several vehicles were also damaged.
In the Fastivskyi district, warehouse facilities and an outbuilding were destroyed, and two private houses were damaged.
Residents of Kyiv region have been urged not to touch any suspicious objects they may find, as they could be explosive.
"Do not try to move or dismantle it. Move to a safe distance and warn others about the danger. Immediately report the find by calling 101 or 102," stressed the head of the regional military administration.
Record drone attack
On the night of May 18, Russia launched 273 drones at Ukraine — setting a new record for the number of drones used in a single night. The previous record was on February 23, 2025, when Russia deployed 267 drones.
Air defense forces shot down 88 drones overnight, while 128 drone imitators were lost due to location jamming.
Fragments of enemy drones fell in Kyiv, with no casualties reported. However,the Kyiv region experienced a heavy attack.
