Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and Shaheds: Air defense shot down 18 targets
Russia once again attacked Ukraine with rockets and kamikaze drones overnight on March 31. Air defense systems shot down 18 enemy targets, reports the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Oleshchuk.
In total, the Russians launched:
- 14 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555 from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (launch areas in Saratov region);
- 11 Shahed attack drones (launch areas in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Crimea);
- an Iskander-M ballistic missile (Crimea);
- a guided aviation missile Kh-59 (Zaporizhzhia region).
Air defense forces destroyed nine Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles and nine Shahed drones.
Air defense missile units, fighter aircraft of the Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare means of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.
Night attack
In Kyiv and several regions, air alerts were declared due to ballistic threats starting from the evening of March 30. Sirens sounded twice during the night in the capital and most regions.
It is known that the Russians launched missiles from strategic bombers this night, causing significant alarm in Ukraine.
Enemy missiles reached as far as western Ukraine. The Air Force reported the movement of missiles towards Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
