Russia announces regrouping in Kherson region, then says it was mistake
The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced a decision to reposition its forces within the occupied territory of the Kherson region. Initially, there were plans to withdraw these troops further to the east of the Dnipro River, according to Russian propagandist media outlets.
The Russian defense authorities, as quoted by propagandists, claim that this decision was made following an "assessment of the situation that has developed." Allegedly, the leadership of the "Dnipro" group has opted to "redeploy forces to more advantageous positions to the east of the Dnieper," as disclosed by Sergey Shoigu, the Russian Minister of Defense. This refers to the intervention forces operating in the Kherson region.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country asserted that after the repositioning of the "Dnipro" group, a portion of the forces would be released and utilized for advances in other directions, as reported by Russian media.
However, it should be noted that this announcement about the troop repositioning in the Kherson region was later "revoked." The reasons behind this sudden reversal remain unclear.
Situation on the left bank of the Kherson region
In recent weeks, there has been an increasing report of military actions and advances by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region.
As experts from the Institute for the Study of War highlighted in a recent report, the Russian military command is likely to face difficulties in deploying combat reinforcements to respond to the ongoing Ukrainian operations on the left bank of Kherson.
According to the expert analysis, UAF fighters on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Dnipro are confusing Russian invaders. In the Tavria direction, Ukrainian forces have strategically moved to the left bank, but not in a head-on confrontation. Instead, they are positioning themselves along the river. This tactic complicates the task for the Russians, preventing them from completely surrounding the UAF.
The Institute for the Study of War has previously reported that the UAF is holding and expanding its presence on the left bank of the Kherson region.
According to British intelligence, the decisive factor in the battles for the left bank of the Kherson region will be the military's ability to intensively use artillery.
