Russia almost destroyed Ukrainian town of Kupiansk: What is current situation

As a result of prolonged Russian attacks in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, 95% of the infrastructure has been destroyed, according to Andrii Besedin, head of the Kupiansk Military Administration.
"In total, 95% of the city of Kupiansk has been destroyed or damaged. We are holding on. There is a power supply, where possible. There is a gas supply. Unfortunately, Russian guided aerial bomb hit and damaged the water pipeline,” Besedin said.
According to him, heavy specialized equipment is needed for restoration, but this is impossible at present.
"Therefore, we are waiting for a safer time when it will be possible to do so. We will quickly repair everything and normalize the water supply. Today, the city of Kupiansk is without water, but work has resumed, not only on the water supply, but also on the electricity and gas supply," he added.
The head of the Kupiansk Military Administration explained that these operations are currently impossible to carry out because Russian drones are effectively lying in wait on the side of the road, and any vehicle that appears on the road immediately becomes a target for the Russians.
Situation at front
Over the past day, July 16, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over 150 combat clashes took place on the front.
Russian troops exerted the most pressure in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions. However, Russians also attacked three times in the Kupiansk direction, in the areas of the settlements of Kindrashivka, Synkivka, and Zahryzove.
Earlier today, Pavlo Shamshyn, spokesperson for the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Group, spoke about Russian plans to create pontoon bridges for armored vehicles across the Oskil River in order to create conditions for encircling or storming the city of Kupiansk, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently thwarting these plans.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine showed a video in which a special forces soldier single-handedly repelled an assault by Russian forces in the Kupiansk direction.
