Russia admits strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in Odesa and Sumy regions

The Russian forces cynically acknowledged strikes on a gas field in the Sumy region, the Odesa thermal power plant, and seven electrical substations across Ukraine by publishing the information on the website of the Russian Defense Ministry.
"The Russian military destroyed the Buhruvate gas field in the Sumy region, which is used for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement said.
The Russian Defense Ministry's website also reported a missile strike on the Odesa thermal power plant and seven electrical substations.
The Russians explained their actions as "a response to attacks on Russian civilians."
The Russian forces also added that they are striking Ukrainian Armed Forces decision-making centers and command posts in Ukraine, as well as enterprises used by the Ukrainian military.
Russian strikes on August 9
On the night of August 9, Russia attacked the Odesa region, damaging energy facilities. The damage was serious, so restoring the electricity supply will take time.
Among the damaged facilities was the Odesa thermal power plant. Following the attack, part of Odesa was left without electricity and water, while electric public transport services were temporarily suspended.
In addition to the Odesa region, Russia launched a missile strike on Kharkiv on August 9. A high-rise building was hit, killing two people and injuring many others.
