Russian intelligence has fabricated claims that Ukraine is preparing attacks on Russian opposition figures abroad. This fake narrative is an attempt by the aggressor state's special services to create an alibi for themselves, The Insider reports.

Accusations from Russia

Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) has claimed that Ukraine is allegedly preparing a series of attacks on Russian opposition figures.

Russian intelligence further asserts that individuals from Asian and Middle Eastern countries will be involved in the attacks, supposedly in exchange for a $20,000 reward.

Additionally, the FIS accused Ukraine of planning to damage foreign vessels in the Baltic Sea using Russian-made mines and blaming Moscow for the incidents.

Response from Ukraine’s Intelligence

A representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, Andrii Yusov, told The Insider that such accusations are a "primitive attempt to create some kind of alibi for future special operations by Russian intelligence services in third countries and the free world."

Yusov also pointed out that by making such statements, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service essentially admits that the Russian opposition has chosen to leave Russia for security reasons.

"When we talk about Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, its primary task is to counter Putin’s aggression and expose the Kremlin’s plans for a genocidal war. This topic (Russian opposition figures) is of no interest to Ukrainian intelligence services," Yusov emphasized.

Operations of Russian intelligence services

Earlier, US intelligence declassified information about assassinations carried out by Russian intelligence services.

Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the car bombing of Chechen politician Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev in Qatar.
