Ruined city center, burnt cars, children among dead: Photo report from Ukrainian Sumy

The Russians committed terror on Palm Sunday, striking the center of Sumy with two ballistic missiles. Buildings were destroyed, homes and the local university were damaged, cars were destroyed, and at the moment, dozens of dead and wounded are known, including children among the victims.

RBC-Ukraine reported that the strikes hit the very center of the city when residents were either resting or going to church. As a result of the hits, buildings were destroyed, homes were damaged, and cars burned on the streets. According to eyewitnesses, some of the victims burned alive in their cars.

As a result of the strike, the Congress Center of Sumy State University was damaged. In addition, it is known about the death of passengers of a trolleybus. The head of the regional military administration, Volodymyr Artiukh, called it the “trolleybus of death,” because many people died in it.
What is known about the horrific strike on Sumy
Around 10:15 AM (Kyiv time), an air raid alert was announced in several regions due to the threat of ballistic strikes. A few minutes later, Telegram channels reported two explosions in the central part of Sumy.
Later, it became known that Russian troops struck with two Iskander/KN23 ballistic missiles in cluster configuration; they exploded over the city, and there were many striking elements. Ukrainian officials note that the enemy did this deliberately to cause as many civilian casualties as possible. A headquarters has been deployed in the city to eliminate the consequences of the emergency, where victims can seek help. It will operate, tentatively, until 19:00.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, stated that the hits were recorded clearly in the city center.
"Today is Palm Sunday, a lot of people were on the street, and the church where the consecration is taking place is located nearby. It was at this time that the Russians struck, clearly realizing that they were hitting civilians," he noted.
According to him, emergency services responded instantly — rescuers and police were on site from the first minutes. The strike was extremely brutal; the number of dead and wounded may increase.
As of 2:10 PM (Kyiv time), 32 people had died in Sumy, including two children. 84 people were injured, including 10 children.
