Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire with Russia. Now, Moscow must reciprocate, stated US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz while speaking to journalists.

Following today's talks with the Ukrainian delegation, which included discussions on a ceasefire, Rubio emphasized that the "ball is now in Russia's court."

The Secretary of State stressed that Ukraine has taken a positive step toward establishing peace, and he hopes Russia will reciprocate.

"The best goodwill gesture the Russians can provide is to say yes, to say yes to the offer that the Ukrainians have made to stop the shooting, to stop the fighting, to get to the table," Rubio said.

For his part, Waltz clarified that Ukraine shares US President Donald Trump's vision of ending the war. He added that it shares his determination to end the fighting.

Ukraine agrees to a ceasefire

Ukrainian and American officials held lengthy talks in Saudi Arabia today.

Following the discussions, Ukraine accepted the US proposal to establish a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.

It is not yet known how Russia will react to this proposal, as a ceasefire is impossible without its consent.
