Romania issues air alert for two consecutive nights following Russian UAV attacks on Ukraine

On the night of January 30, residents of northern Tulcea County in Romania were alerted with an air raid warning. The reason for the alert was an attack by a Russian drone near the border between Ukraine and Romania, the press service of Romania's Ministry of Defense reports.
According to the Ministry, monitoring and surveillance systems detected drones in Ukrainian airspace, flying along routes near the border.
Residents of settlements closest to the border were sent notifications around 4:00 a.m. (local time) about the threat of falling objects from the airspace and were urged to seek shelter. The alert lasted for 90 minutes.
A similar notification was also sent the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. During that night, Russia attacked port infrastructure in the Izmail district of the Odesa region.
That night, two Romanian Air Force F-16 jets, part of the Air Policing Combat Service, took off from the 86th Air Base in Borcea at around 03:40 a.m. The jets returned to base around 05:00 a.m. (local time).
The Ministry noted that data provided by Romania's Air Force radar systems did not indicate any drones entering Romanian airspace.
