The Israeli military intercepted a rocket launched from the center of the Gaza Strip and did not rule out retaliatory strikes on the Nuseirat Palestinian refugee camp, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and The Times of Israel.

The Israeli military intercepted a rocket launched towards the country from the Gaza Strip on Saturday, April 12.

An Arab spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) urged residents of six areas in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central part of the enclave to evacuate after terrorists launched a rocket in the area.

This practice has become standard during the war, especially since the Israeli army resumed its military offensive in the Gaza Strip a month ago, displacing two million internally displaced persons from Gaza to the coastline.

Counter-terrorism operation in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also reported that on the night of Saturday, April 12, the military launched an operation in the Daraj Tuffa area of Gaza City.

The operation's goal is to strengthen security control in the area, dismantle terrorist infrastructure, and expand the security zone.

"So far, the troops eliminated dozens of terrorists and dismantled terrorist infrastructure and observation posts," the report states.

The IDF noted that before and during the operation, the military ensured the evacuation of civilians from the combat zone via organized routes for their safety.

Escalation in Gaza Strip

The ceasefire initiated in January between the Israeli army and the Hamas group was broken in mid-March when militants began delaying the hostage exchange.

On April 7, Palestinians fired rockets at Israel, after which the IDF intensified operations in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, April 11, Hamas militants attacked Israeli soldiers in the southern part of the enclave, and Houthi rebels launched drones from Yemen toward Israel.

On Saturday, the Israeli army completed the encirclement of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip to neutralize threats from militants.

Israel is willing to restore the ceasefire if Hamas releases approximately half of the Israeli hostages.
