RF used almost 500 chemical munitions against Ukrainian army in April
In April, the Russian military used 444 munitions containing hazardous chemicals against Ukrainian soldiers, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"During the past month, mobile groups of the grouping of support forces and means, as well as other units of the Defense Forces, recorded 444 cases of enemy's use of munitions containing hazardous chemical substances, which is 71 cases more than in the previous period," the General Staff reported.
According to the military, the main method of delivery is the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, mainly with K-51 dropping.
In total, from February 2023 to April 2024, 1891 cases of use of hazardous chemicals were recorded.
As explained by the General Staff, the Russian forces continue to use munitions containing hazardous chemical substances, thus violating the "Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling, and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction," as well as laws and customs of warfare.
Cases of chemical weapons use
Since the beginning of 2024, the Russian army has intensified its use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers. In particular, as of March this year, 346 chemical attacks against the Ukrainian Armed Forces were recorded. However, this number significantly increased in April.
Most often, the Russian army uses K-51, RGR, RG-Vo grenades containing the dangerous chemical CS.
