Remains of aerial device with Russian inscriptions found in Poland
In the Polish village of Orzechowo, an unknown object fell in a forest belt. After examination, Russian inscriptions were found on it, according to Onet.
It is known that the incident occurred late on Wednesday evening. The police arrived at the scene.
“Although it was initially suspected that it could be a weather balloon, it was quickly noticed that a capsule with inscriptions in Russian was attached to the object,” the agency said, citing local groups.
The report says that police arrived at the scene, but not the military. The object that landed on Polish territory is said to be a weather balloon.
Reaction of the Polish military
The Polish military confirmed that the object with Russian inscriptions was a weather balloon.
“We assure you that it is most likely a weather balloon,” said Jacek Goryszewski, spokesman for the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
He also added that although the scene was guarded by police, there were no military personnel there.
During Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Russian drones and missiles have repeatedly entered Polish airspace.
This occurs amid ongoing air attacks by Russia on Ukrainian territory, prompting the Polish Air Force to frequently scramble its aircraft to safeguard its territory from potential threats.
