Regular military support for Kyiv from West may force Putin to make concessions - ISW
The theory of victory for Russian President Vladimir Putin is based on the assumption that the West will abandon Ukraine. However, continued Western military aid to Kyiv could force him to make concessions, reports the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts emphasized that the focus is on regular assistance.
"Only unwavering Western support and consistent deliveries of Western military assistance to Kyiv can force Putin to abandon his theory and accept the need to offer the concessions necessary for any resolution to the conflict acceptable to the US, Europe, and Ukraine," the report states.
At the same time, ISW continues to believe that only the US can provide Ukraine with certain critically important weapons and military equipment at the scale, speed, and regularity needed to defend the country against Russia.
The report also mentions that Western officials have recently suggested that European states should take on a greater role in financing US military aid to Ukraine.
US aid to Ukraine
Recently, the administration of newly elected US President Donald Trump froze funding for foreign aid programs and grant allocations. Western media speculate that this decision could also affect military assistance to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering, has denied these claims, stating that US military aid to Kyiv has not been halted.
"US military assistance to Ukraine CONTINUES under previously approved aid packages. I will provide more details later, but please do not panic over sensational headlines and do not misinterpret the situation," Kovalenko wrote on Telegram.
