Red Cross reveals number of people considered missing due to war in Ukraine
Due to the war in Ukraine, 23,000 people are reported missing. Human rights activists are trying to determine their fate, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
"Of all the unspeakable losses and sufferings, family separation inflicts the greatest pain," the statement reads.
It is noted that two years after the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, humanitarian needs continue to grow, particularly for millions of displaced persons.
Dusan Vujasinin, Head of the Central Tracing Agency, stated that families have the right to know the fate of their relatives and, if possible, maintain contact with them.
How many inquiries has the Red Cross received
By the end of January 2024, the Red Cross had helped 8,000 families obtain information about the fate or whereabouts of their missing loved ones.
And over the past two years, the Red Cross has received over 115,000 inquiries from those searching for their missing relatives.
