April 2026 continues to surprise with its instability: according to international meteorological laboratories, a series of powerful geomagnetic storms is approaching Earth. The geomagnetic field is expected to remain disturbed for several days in a row, with peak activity reaching red levels.

RBC-Ukraine reports on the schedule of dangerous dates from April 7 to 12 and how to protect your body.

Geomagnetic storm calendar

According to the latest sunspot monitoring data, the situation will look as follows:

April 7 (Tuesday). The beginning of a geomagnetic disturbance. Activity level – 4 (K-index 4). This is a weak geomagnetic storm that may cause mild discomfort and sleep disturbances.

April 8 (Wednesday). Activity will increase to 5 (K-index 5). This is a red-level storm. Severe headaches, weakness, and blood pressure spikes are possible.

April 9 (Thursday). Peak of solar impact. A powerful geomagnetic storm with a level of 6 (K-index 6) is expected. The most dangerous day of the week for weather-sensitive people.

April 10 (Friday). Gradual decrease in activity to 4–5. The body may still feel the effects of the storm, including increased fatigue.

April 11 (Saturday). Another minor flare is expected, reaching level 5. This may significantly affect the well-being of people prone to weather sensitivity.

April 12 (Sunday). Tension will subside. A moderate geomagnetic storm at level 4 is expected.

What is a geomagnetic storm

A geomagnetic storm is a reaction of Earth’s magnetic field to powerful energy emissions from the Sun. When a strong solar flare or coronal mass ejection occurs, charged particles reach our planet and interact with the magnetosphere.

This can cause:

  • fluctuations in the geomagnetic field
  • satellite malfunctions
  • communication disruptions
  • bright auroras

Sometimes such phenomena also affect people’s well-being, especially those sensitive to weather changes.

How geomagnetic storms affect humans

Although the impact of geomagnetic storms on the human body is still debated in scientific circles, thousands of weather-sensitive people report similar symptoms each time. People with cardiovascular diseases and chronic conditions are the most affected.

Most common symptoms:

  • sudden headaches and migraines
  • blood pressure spikes
  • joint and muscle pain
  • sleep disturbances (insomnia or excessive sleepiness)
  • general weakness, apathy, and fatigue

Those most affected:

  • weather-sensitive individuals
  • people with cardiovascular diseases
  • people with chronic conditions
  • elderly people
  • pregnant women
  • those with sleep problems
  • people with chronic fatigue or stress

However, doctors emphasize that the impact of geomagnetic storms on the body is individual.

How to get through dangerous days: doctors’ advice

To minimize the impact of solar activity on your health, it is worth adjusting your schedule and diet in advance.

What you should do:

  • Maintain proper hydration. Drink clean water and herbal teas (with mint or lemon balm), and avoid excessive coffee and energy drinks.
  • Watch your diet. Avoid fatty, spicy, and overly salty foods. Prefer vegetables, fruits, and light meals.
  • Limit alcohol and smoking. These habits put additional strain on the cardiovascular system.
  • Get more rest. Try to go to bed at the same time, ensuring at least 7–8 hours of sleep.
  • Spend time outdoors. Light walks help oxygenate the blood, but avoid direct sunlight and intense physical activity.
