Radiation alert declared overnight in Poltava region, details revealed

On the night of Wednesday, August 20, a radiation alert was declared in the Poltava region. However, the warning turned out to be false, according to the Telegram channels of the Poltava Regional Military Administration and its head, Volodymyr Kohut.
In particular, at 04:32 Kyiv time, a message appeared on the local authorities’ Telegram channels about radiation danger in the Myrhorod district. It lasted for 1 minute and 34 seconds - from 04:32 to 04:34.
At the same time, according to the Air Forces, the region was under threat from hostile strike drones moving toward Myrhorod. As of 06:00, no consequences from the attack had been reported.
Previously, we reported that a column of smoke was observed near the nuclear power plant in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, accompanied by a power outage in the area.
However, the Ministry of Energy later explained that the smoke was caused by a forest fire and posed no threat to nuclear safety.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that radiation levels in the Zaporizhzhia region are within normal limits, with no recorded exceedances.
