The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, seeks Ukraine's capitulation, and his talks about peace are just traps, according to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), Andrii Kovalenko.

According to him, it is important not to confuse the concepts of "peace" and "capitulation," as what Putin truly desires is Ukraine's capitulation. Putin claims Ukrainian territories and has included them in Russia.

"We need peace, but it must be just, according to international law, which Putin is not prepared to accept. All the talks about Istanbul in 2022 won't restore the destroyed Bakhmut, so he lies. He needs our capitulation. And talks of peace are traps, just like over 100 years ago, Russia seeks to divide us internally over differing visions so that we stop resisting," Kovalenko believes.

Unfortunately, Putin still wants all of Ukraine.

"There is no connection between the terms 'peace' and 'capitulation.' Putin's aim is Ukraine's capitulation," the military official said.

Backstory

On September 5, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin spoke at the Eastern Economic Forum. As expected, he made cynical statements about Ukraine. Specifically, Putin claimed that Russia would always protect the interests of Ukrainians who support the Russian language and traditions.

Additionally, Putin asserted that Russia allegedly never refused negotiations regarding Ukraine, but not based on ephemeral demands, instead on parameters agreed upon in Istanbul. In his view, Ukraine was satisfied with the Istanbul agreements and it only rejected them due to the West.

In June, ahead of the Global Summit in Switzerland, Putin outlined the conditions for peace talks with Ukraine. At that time, he faced comparisons to Adolf Hitler in 1938, as he demanded concessions involving four regions and more.

Moreover, analysts from the Institute for the Study of War have previously said that Russia is not truly interested in negotiations with Ukraine based on international law.
