Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would agree to a ceasefire if Ukraine relinquishes the occupied territories.
The Kremlin leader said he constantly receives calls to halt the fighting and voiced an unreasonable condition for doing so.
"If Ukraine’s troops leave the occupied territories, we will stop the hostilities; if they do not leave, we will achieve this by military means," Putin emphasized.
On Wednesday, November 26, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, urged people "not to make premature conclusions" about a quick end to the full-scale war in Ukraine.
According to him, in various countries, including the United States, there will supposedly still be many people who will try to disrupt the peace process between Ukraine and the aggressor state.
US peace plan
US and Russian officials have developed a peace plan to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. It consists of 28 points and, among other things, proposes handing over parts of the Donbas to Russia in exchange for long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and the EU, reducing the Ukrainian Armed Forces, giving up long-range weapons, and more.
Russia was likely involved in drafting the plan — this is suggested by some odd phrases in the document. Western media suspected that some of them may have originally been written in Russian.
The Institute for the Study of War reported that if Russian forces continue advancing at their current pace, they will not be able to fully capture the Donetsk region before August 2027.
