The Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin sent a proposal regarding the war in Ukraine to US President Donald Trump. It concerns a ceasefire, Reuters reports.

According to media sources, Vladimir Putin sent a message to Donald Trump regarding his proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine. The message was sent through a special envoy of Trump (probably referring to Steve Witkoff, - ed.)

As Reuters notes, citing a statement from the Russian side, the Kremlin sees "grounds for cautious optimism" regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement.

Furthermore, according to journalists, Trump again demanded that Russia sign and finalize "a Cease Fire and Final Agreement" stating that he would extract the US of what he called a "real 'mess' with Russia."

Ceasefire agreements in Ukraine

On March 11, the US and Ukraine agreed to the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. After that, the Kremlin stated that it was analyzing the statements made by the parties during the negotiations.

Later, Putin stated that he was allegedly not opposed to a ceasefire but mentioned certain "nuances."

This statement by the Russian President came amid the visit of Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow to discuss ending the war in Ukraine during his second trip.
