Russian President Vladimir Putin is not considering a scenario of a potential "freezing" of the war against Ukraine, states Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, according to TASS.
According to Putin’s representative, Moscow considers such a settlement option ineffective.
"A temporary freezing of the Ukrainian conflict will not help; the solution must be designed for future generations and guaranteed," Peskov said.
Moreover, he cynically added that there are currently no signs of "a path toward a peaceful settlement."
Against this backdrop, Peskov decided to express gratitude to India, which is willing to join negotiations to end the war.
What is important to understand is that the peace process is not moving in the necessary direction precisely because of the Kremlin’s position. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for example, calls on Russia almost every day to stop hostilities and sit down at the negotiating table.
However, Putin’s team has repeatedly rejected these proposals, making it clear that it will continue hostilities against Ukraine. The Kremlin still claims that the war will continue until all the goals of the so-called special military operation are achieved (this is what Russia calls the war against Ukraine – ed.).
Moreover, Putin himself still refuses Zelenskyy’s proposals to hold talks in neutral territory – the Kremlin leader insists that the Ukrainian president fly to Moscow for the meeting.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported how the Kremlin reacted to India’s new initiative to end the war in Ukraine.
We also reported that Germany warned about Putin’s "new dangerous plans" regarding five European countries at once.
In addition, it became known that Putin is deliberately escalating and raising the stakes ahead of talks with the United States.
