Putin reacts to Russian border breach in Kursk region after day passed
A day after the alleged border breach in the Kursk region, Russian president Vladimir Putin made his first statement on the matter at a meeting of the Security Council. He called it a “large-scale provocation” and, as expected, blamed Ukraine for everything.
“We have to start with the events in the Kursk region. As you know, the Kyiv regime has carried out another large-scale provocation, firing indiscriminately with various types of weapons, including missiles, at civilian buildings, residential buildings, and ambulances,” he said.
After the Security Council meeting, Putin is going to hold a meeting with the heads of security agencies to discuss the situation in the Kursk region.
He also instructed Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to coordinate assisting residents of the Kursk region. He ordered, “to take measures immediately”.

Yesterday morning, after the massive shelling of the town of Sudzha, which is almost destroyed and devastated, local authorities and the Russian Telegram channels reported the “breakthrough of the border by the Armed Forces of Ukraine” in the Kursk region. According to the Russians, the fighting has not stopped since yesterday. Moreover, Ukrainian troops have allegedly occupied several settlements. Officially, the military and political leadership has not commented on the situation and has not claimed any involvement.
