Putin plans to travel to China to meet with Xi Jinping
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin intends to visit China in October to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, according to Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
"In October, we are looking forward to in-depth bilateral talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing as part of the Russian president's participation in the 'One Belt, One Road' international forum," Patrushev said.
Xi Jinping's visit to Putin
The Chinese president paid a two-day visit to Moscow on March 20. They discussed the war in Ukraine during an informal 4-hour meeting with Putin.
China noted that President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia was aimed at "calling for peace and promoting negotiations." They said that China would defend its allegedly "objective and unbiased position" on international and regional issues, including the war in Ukraine.
ISW analysts are confident that Xi Jinping will not provide Putin with the support that Russia needs to wage war against Ukraine.
