Putin plans to expand drone production in Russia with 48 new specialized centers
Russia plans to increase drone production amid the war with Ukraine. For this purpose, Russia wants to create almost fifty special centers, stated Vladimir Putin.
He mentioned that last year, Russian soldiers received over 140,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of various types produced in Russia.
"This year, production of drones is planned to increase significantly, almost tenfold to be precise. Additionally, the range of unmanned systems is expanding, and crewless boats are being developed," added the Kremlin head.
Putin stated that the main task is "to produce a wide range of drones and to set up production as quickly as possible."
He specified that the design, testing, and serial production of drones are planned to be carried out in specialized scientific and production centers.
"By 2030, it is planned to create 48 such facilities in various regions," Putin revealed.
Background
Russian troops are actively using drones in the war against Ukraine. They use them for both reconnaissance and striking Ukrainian defenders and civilian objects.
Specifically, today, September 19, it became known that Russia struck a medical facility in the town of Seredyno-Buda with a drone. As a result, two men were injured.
Additionally, during the night, the Russian army launched 42 Shahed drones towards Ukraine. Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down all of the drones.
