'Putin must be stopped': Biden reacts to missile attack on Ukraine
Massive Russian strike on Ukraine is a reminder that dictator Vladimir Putin wants to destroy Ukraine and must be stopped, says President of the United States Joe Biden.
The American leader emphasized that on December 29, Russia launched strikes on a maternity hospital, a shopping center, and residential quarters in Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of civilians and injuries to dozens.
"It is a stark reminder to the world that, after nearly two years of this devastating war, Putin’s objective remains unchanged. He seeks to obliterate Ukraine and subjugate its people. He must be stopped," emphasized Biden.
He also added that if the U.S. Congress does not approve new funding for aid to Ukraine, the country will be unable to continue sending weapons and vital air defense systems needed to protect the Ukrainian civilian population.
"Congress must step up and act without any further delay," noted the president.
According to him, the stakes in this struggle extend far beyond the borders of Ukraine and involve the entire North Atlantic Alliance.
"We cannot let our allies and partners down. We cannot let Ukraine down. History will judge harshly those who fail to answer freedom’s call," he concluded.
