Trump–Putin summit in Alaska

On August 15, in Anchorage, Alaska, US President Donald Trump will meet with Vladimir Putin.

The talks will focus on a ceasefire at the front and the possibility of ending the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Ahead of the summit, the Kremlin declared its commitment to a diplomatic settlement of the war and accused Ukraine of being unwilling to engage in dialogue.

Peskov also stated that Trump and Putin do not plan to sign any documents following the meeting.

The US president estimated the likelihood of unsuccessful talks with Putin at 25%. If the negotiations fail, the United States is prepared to impose sanctions on Russia.

If the outcome is positive, a trilateral summit between Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy is planned. Such a meeting could take place at the end of next week.
