The State Duma ratifies the treaty on "comprehensive strategic partnership" with North Korea. The document stipulates "mutual assistance in the event of aggression" against one of its participants, states Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the concluding press conference of the BRICS summit, Putin was asked whether the presence of North Korean military personnel constitutes a serious escalation of the conflict. Putin responded that this is part of the agreement with North Korea.

The Russian President reminded that the State Duma ratified the treaty with North Korea, which was signed by Putin in Pyongyang this summer. According to him, this document provides for "mutual assistance in the event of aggression" against one of its participants.

"We will see how this process develops," Putin added.

Furthermore, the Russian President once again claimed that "Russia's actions did not lead to the escalation" and accused Western countries of assisting Ukraine in the conflict.

North Korea has sent thousands of its troops to Russian territory.

Today, the Defense Intelligence announced that North Korea has deployed approximately 12,000 soldiers to Russia. Moreover, some of them are already in the combat zone in the Kursk region.

Meanwhile, the Western news agency Financial Times stated that Putin is counting on North Korean soldiers to reclaim parts of the Kursk region currently under Ukrainian control.
