'Putin is leading you into abyss': US Senator Graham warns Russians

American Republican Senator Lindsey Graham warned Russian citizens about the disastrous consequences of Vladimir Putin’s aggressive policies, as he refuses to end the war against Ukraine, according to Graham’s Twitter (X) account.
"I appreciate all that President Donald Trump has done to try to end this terrible war. But to end any war, you must have willing partners. As of yet, Putin is not willing," states the Senator`s post.
Graham, speaking about Putin, urged people not to forget that "this is the man who facilitated the Assad Regime in dropping barrel bombs from helicopters on innocent civilians and intentionally targeting hospitals in Syria."
"The same barbaric behavior is playing out in Ukraine," the Republican senator emphasized.
Graham also warned Russian citizens about the disastrous consequences for their country due to the Kremlin’s actions, including casualties from the aggressive war, economic decline, and international isolation.
"To the Russian people: Putin is leading you into the abyss.
- Tens of thousands of Russian soldiers killed and wounded.
- An economy smaller than the size of Italy with more pressure coming.
- Russia is more isolated than ever."
Summing up, Graham states that "this doesn’t make Russia great. It makes it a pariah state." He also hinted at the supposed ability of Russian society to do better than the current Russian leadership.
"You, the Russian people and military, can do better," reads the American senator’s statement.
Additionally, Graham included in his post a screenshot of a recent sharp message from Donald Trump, in which the former US leader harshly criticized Putin for dragging out peace talks with Ukraine. Trump also threatened Russia with "really bad things."
Trump's criticism of Putin
Amid recent large-scale combined air attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities, US President Donald Trump, after a period of silence, finally responded to the escalation of attacks. The American leader stated that Putin has gone completely crazy.
Additionally, Trump said that Washington is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against Russia. This marks a shift from his earlier stance. After a phone call with the Kremlin leader, the US president said the US did not plan to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, despite the Kremlin’s refusal to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine.
