Putin intends to continue war with Ukraine and to create 'sanitary zone'
Vladimir Putin has declared that during his new presidential term, he will address the challenges of war against Ukraine and bolster the military. Additionally, he has announced plans to establish a "sanitary zone" in Ukraine, according to Reuters.
Putin stated the need to address the task of a special operation, strengthen defense capabilities, and armed forces.
He said Russia is compelled to defend the interests of its citizens with weapons in hand.
When asked if he deemed it necessary to seize the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, Putin said if the attacks continued, Russia would create a buffer zone out of more Ukrainian territory to defend Russian territory.
"I do not exclude that, bearing in mind the tragic events taking place today, we will be forced at some point, when we deem it appropriate, to create a certain 'sanitary zone' in the territories today under the Kyiv regime," Putin said.
He declined to provide any details but mentioned that such a zone might need to be sufficiently large to prevent foreign-made armaments from reaching Russian territory.
He also declared that all law enforcement agencies would be instructed to identify anyone wielding weapons against Russia, including members of the Russian Volunteer Corps.
