Putin and Trump set for phone conversation on May 19, Kremlin confirms

The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed that a phone call is being arranged between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, the Russian news agency TASS informs.
"The conversation is being prepared," Peskov said, commenting on Trump's statement that he intends to speak with Putin on May 19.

"I will be speaking, by telephone, to President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday at 10:00 a.m. (local time -ed.) The subjects of the call will be stopping the 'bloodbath' that is killing, on average, more than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He also said he plans to discuss trade with Putin.
"I will then be speaking to President Zelenskyy of Ukraine and then, with President Zelenskyy, various members of NATO... Hopefully, it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end. God bless us all!" Trump added.
We also reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today. Rubio wrote on social media that the US has presented a strong peace plan and that it is time to end the war.
