In Bangladesh, amid widespread protests and the resignation and flight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Chief of Army Staff has announced the formation of a temporary government, reports Reuters.

In a national address broadcast on television, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the 58-year-old Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, stated that he has already engaged in talks with leaders of major political parties, excluding the long-ruling Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina.

The general, who assumed the position on June 23, also announced plans to meet with President Mohammed Shahabuddin to discuss the country's future direction.

According to Zaman, the country is currently experiencing a revolutionary period.

He also urged an end to the violence amidst ongoing protests, which have already claimed over 300 lives.

Additionally, the military office has revised the curfew, which had previously been imposed by Hasina's government. The new curfew will be in effect from midnight on Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday, after which schools, factories, colleges, and universities will reopen.
