Protests took place in various US cities against the military operation in Venezuela, according to CNN.

Across the country, people demonstrated against US President Donald Trump’s military action in Venezuela and the detention of Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Participants expressed their opposition to a new war and potential bloodshed over oil interests.

In Washington, dozens of people gathered near the White House with signs reading “No War on Venezuela,” “No blood for oil” and “US hands off Latin America.” Protesters chanted slogans and waved Venezuelan flags.

In New York, a protest took place at Times Square near a US Army recruitment center. Participants voiced their opposition to military intervention in Venezuela and held anti-war signs.

Similar demonstrations were held in Boston, where activists chanted slogans against a war for oil and urged the US not to interfere in Venezuela’s affairs.

In Minneapolis, people took to the streets despite the cold weather, waving Venezuelan flags and holding signs calling for Maduro’s release.

Protesters emphasized that they do not support a military solution and urged the US government to refrain from escalating the conflict.

US military operation in Venezuela

On the night of January 3, the US conducted a special operation in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, involving US aviation, naval forces, drones, and CIA assets.

According to official reports, there were no fatalities during the operation, though several military personnel were injured, and one helicopter was damaged.

It later became clear that this was not a full-scale invasion. The goal of the operation was the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. US forces also detained his wife, Cilia Flores.

US President Donald Trump released the first photo of Maduro after his capture, taken aboard the US amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima.

On the same day, the Southern District of New York brought a series of charges against Maduro. He is accused of conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism, organizing cocaine shipments to the US, illegal possession of automatic weapons and explosives, and conspiracy to use such weapons against the US.
