Protests begin in Israel after dismissal of defense minister
In Tel Aviv, locals took to the streets to protest, expressing dissatisfaction over the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing The Times of Israel.
Protesters gathered on the Ayalon Highway, which runs through the city, blocking traffic and setting bonfires to signal their discontent with Gallant's dismissal amid an ongoing war.
The protests were called for by anti-government groups and families of hostages, who accuse Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of playing politics and endangering their loved ones.
Gallant's dismissal
Today, November 5, Netanyahu announced Gallant's dismissal.
He explained his decision, stating that over the past few months, his trust in the defense minister had "eroded."
Netanyahu decided to appoint Foreign Minister Israel Katz as Gallant’s replacement.
Israel is currently engaged in conflict with Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. Recently, Israel launched a ground operation in the border area with Lebanon.
