The European Union's latest sanctions package against Russia will include 35 individuals and 19 legal entities, Polskie Radio reports.

While the package does not ban the import of liquefied natural gas from Russia, it introduces restrictions on aluminum imports, expands the blacklisting of "shadow fleet" vessels, and enforces additional export limitations.

"The blacklist is secret until unanimously approved by the member states. The idea is that those against whom sanctions will be applied will not be warned in advance. Being included in the blacklist means a ban on entry to the EU, blocking of assets, and freezing of accounts in European banks," adds Polske Radio.

The sanctions list will mainly include Russians, as well as citizens of North Korea and China who help the enemy wage war against Ukraine. In particular, those who:

  • are part of the management of companies from the military-industrial complex;
  • entrepreneurs working in the energy sector;
  • representatives of puppet authorities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

"Among them are also propagandists and disinformers. The list of sanctioned companies includes mainly weapons factories, as well as institutions and organizations that support the Russian attack on Ukraine," writes Polske Radio.

Sanctions against Russia

After the start of the full-scale invasion, Western countries began imposing economic sanctions against Russia. These restrictions cover a variety of sectors: from financial transactions and trade relations to energy supplies and technologies. One of the key steps was the exclusion of some Russian banks from the international payment system SWIFT, which complicated Russia's international financial transactions.

According to the media reports, traitors Andriy Derkach and Sergey Karyakin may be included in the new EU sanctions package.
