Far-right activist and supporter of US President Donald Trump Laura Loomer has expressed her willingness to become White House press secretary. She put herself forward for the role after Katie Zacharia left the position after five days on the job.

The blogger published several posts on X explaining why she believes she would be a suitable candidate for the position.

"Hear me out: Press Secretary Laura Loomer," the activist wrote in her first post.

About two hours later, she returned to the subject, saying she could be an "amazing press secretary."

"I’d show President Trump all the receipts. I would bring my binder full of receipts to every briefing," Loomer wrote.

She also posted an image in which her face was awkwardly superimposed onto a photo of a woman with long blonde hair. Both Zacharia and former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt are blondes.

In addition, Loomer shared a childhood photo of herself with blonde hair and joked in another post that she was actually a natural blonde.

Previous press secretary

Katie Zacharia faced criticism following her first White House press briefing. On Tuesday, she ended her meeting with the press early, appeared visibly nervous, and answered only three questions.

Questions about her legal education and professional qualifications also drew additional attention.

Despite the criticism, Loomer defended Zacharia. In a post on X, she accused her critics of being "unnecessarily cruel."

"I wish Katie the best. I think it's great that President Trump has people who are so devoted to his cause they are willing to subject themselves to public nitpicking on a daily basis. I’m sure he appreciates it, and I think Katie had good intentions," the activist wrote.

Who else could lead the White House press team

Before Zacharia's appointment, several Trump allies were mentioned as possible replacements for Karoline Leavitt. They included White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly, former acting US attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba, former Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin, and conservative commentator Scott Jennings.

Following reports of Zacharia's departure, Jennings topped the list of most likely candidates on the prediction market platform Kalshi. Kelly and conservative writer Elizabeth Pipko followed him.

Trump, however, told Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy that he was in no hurry to fill the vacancy.

Who is Laura Loomer?

Laura Loomer is known as a far-right activist, blogger, and influential supporter of the MAGA movement. She previously opposed US aid to Ukraine and promoted pro-Russian narratives.

However, in the summer of 2026, Loomer said she had been under the influence of Russian propaganda for years. In July, she visited Ukraine for the first time, met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and toured sites in Kyiv damaged by Russian strikes.

Following the visit, the activist acknowledged Ukraine's right to defend itself against Russian aggression, called on the US to provide Ukraine with additional missiles for Patriot air defense systems, and urged Trump to visit the country in person.

She also pushed back against Trump's claim that Zelenskyy was the reason the war in Ukraine had not ended. Loomer argued that Zelenskyy was not the problem, but rather Russian leader Vladimir Putin. In her remarks, she stressed that "It’s always been about Putin."
