Prime Minister of Estonia proposes to introduce common trade embargo against Russia
Estonia proposes to introduce a common trade embargo against Russia with the participation of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Finland. Finland plays a vital role in this matter, according to ERR.
According to the Estonian Prime Minister, other neighboring countries have not yet supported Estonia's proposal. She emphasized that Finland is the key country in this matter.
Kallas pointed out that she has not yet communicated with Finland's new Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, but promised to do so.
What is the problem?
As the media states, Estonia daily exports electronics, factory equipment, food, and plastics to Russia. According to the Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, the country cannot unilaterally close its border, as Estonian businesses would suffer.
The minister added that trade restrictions should be discussed with the foreign ministers of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Finland.
