Presidential Office shares update on Ukraine’s efforts to acquire Patriot systems from US

There has been progress and positive signals regarding the sale of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. However, it is too early to discuss any specifics, as work of this nature requires discretion, states Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ihor Zhovkva, in a comment to My – Ukraina at the International Fair Play Conference.
According to Zhovkva, there have been "many positive signals," including the possibility of acquiring Patriot systems from the United States.
"You know that the issue of selling Patriot systems to Ukraine has been raised more than once by the President of Ukraine. It was brought up during one of his phone calls, and then relevant work began at the level of the Ministry of Defense. So, this meeting continued the conversation that had started earlier," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office explained.
Zhovkva added that US President Donald Trump, during his press conference, suggested that the supply of munitions for the Patriot systems could be possible. According to the official, work is now ongoing at the level of relevant specialists, so no details will be shared for now.
"This work prefers silence," Zhovkva added.
Patriot systems for Ukraine
Following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump made a number of statements. Notably, he did not rule out providing Ukraine with additional missiles for its Patriot air defense systems.
Patriot systems play a crucial role in protecting Ukraine from Russian attacks. They are the only air defense systems capable of intercepting Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and effectively countering both Russian and North Korean ballistic threats.
Russian forces have repeatedly claimed to have "destroyed" US-supplied Patriot systems — claims that have often been proven false, with one such disinformation case recently debunked.
