President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, has refused to appear at the prosecutor’s office for questioning as part of an investigation into alleged fraud in parliamentary elections, informs SOVA.news.

President of Georgia claims that her summons to the prosecutor’s office “coincidentally aligns with Dmitry Medvedev’s instructions.” The Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council recently called for Zourabichvili’s "removal from office and arrest."

"I am addressing the prosecutor's office; you are accountable to the people. The public demands an immediate investigation from you, not my evidence, and no one expects the prosecutor's office to start obvious political processes against the president in this situation today," she stated.

Zourabichvili emphasized that she has no intention of appearing at the prosecutor’s office and urged it to "avoid political score-settling."

"Moreover, our partners are watching — whether the prosecutor’s office can be independent and unbiased. So let the prosecutor’s office start its work, and the president will carry on with hers. As president, I will continue my duties and do not intend to report to the prosecutor's office," she added.

Zourabichvili summoned for questioning

On October 30, the Georgian prosecutor’s office launched an investigation into alleged election fraud, which shows signs of a crime based on a request from the Central Election Commission (CEC). Due to this, President Salome Zourabichvili was summoned for questioning.

The prosecutor’s office assures that it will simultaneously carry out all necessary investigative and procedural actions, as specified by the CEC order, to examine the facts presented by the President of Georgia, various political parties, and representatives of observer missions.
