What are swing states

In most US states, the outcome of the presidential election is predictable, as certain states consistently lean toward candidates from the Democratic Party, while others favor Republicans. However, there are states where electoral preferences shift from year to year. These states are known as swing states.

Typically, the results in these states determine the overall election winner. This year, the battleground states are Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Arizona.

The most crucial state for the candidates is Pennsylvania, with 19 electoral votes. To win the election, candidates need 270 electoral votes. Next in importance are Michigan and Georgia, each with 16 electoral votes, followed by North Carolina with 15, Arizona with 11, Wisconsin with 10, and Nevada with 6.

According to exit polls by Edison Research, Harris won in most of the battleground states. National polls showed 48% support for Harris and 44% for Trump.
